Content Policy

This Content Policy establishes the operational publishing rules, civic alert broadcasting standards, and moderation criteria for Zungal Technologies under the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021.

1. Scope & Core Principles

Zungal aims to provide useful, trustworthy local information, with particular importance placed on identity, accuracy, public safety, privacy and responsible communication. All published content must adhere to standards of truthfulness, public safety, and mutual respect.

2. No Impersonation

Do not pretend to be another person, public official, politician, business, department, organization or representative. Misrepresenting identity or unauthorized use of official government insignia or emblems is strictly forbidden.

3. Accuracy, Deception & Honest Mistakes

Do not deliberately publish materially false information intended to mislead, cause panic, damage someone, obtain money or interfere with public services. Honest mistakes are not automatically treated as deliberate deception.

4. Emergency Information & Lifeline Integrity

Do not fabricate emergencies or deliberately exaggerate danger. For immediate threats, contact the relevant emergency authority directly. Civic alerts and emergency bulletins may only be published by authorized Office In-Charges and verified public departments.

5. Prohibited Content Categories

  • Illegal Activity: Content or instructions facilitating unlawful activity or contraband.
  • Credible Threats & Violence: Credible threats, incitement of communal disharmony, or encouragement of violence.
  • Sexual Exploitation: Sexual exploitation, non-consensual imagery, or abuse.
  • Fraud & Scams: Deceptive financial offers, phishing, fraudulent identities, or unlawful fundraising.
  • Malware & System Compromise: Malware, malicious automation, scraping, or system degradation.
  • Doxxing & Privacy Violations: Publishing another person's private information, credentials, or sensitive personal data without lawful authorization.
  • Impersonation & Fraudulent Claims: Pretending to hold public office or represent a business/department without authorization.
  • Intellectual Property Infringement: Plagiarism, trademark violation, or unauthorized copyright infringement.
  • Spam & Coordinated Manipulation: Mass repetitive posting or artificial rating manipulation.

6. Businesses and Listings Standards

Keep listings accurate. Do not create fake listings, impersonate competitors, manipulate ratings or misrepresent products, services, or prices. Commercial merchants must deliver honest, accurate catalogue pricing.

7. Official and Department Accounts

Authorized accounts representing public departments, municipalities, or elected officials must speak strictly within their actual role and official authority.

8. Moderation & Enforcement Ladder

Zungal may warn, request correction, reduce visibility, remove content, suspend posting rights, reject/revoke verification, suspend accounts or terminate accounts depending on seriousness, credibility, history and potential harm.

9. Reporting and Statutory Grievances

Use available in-app reporting mechanisms on any post or card. Formal complaints and legal notices may be sent to the Statutory Grievance Desk at grievance@zungal.com.
